Starlux operates first flight to Cebu

Aviation Updates Philippines – The Mactan-Cebu Airport welcomed the newest addition of airlines to serve the central Philippine hub – Starlux Airlines.

Taipei, Taiwan-based Starlux's inaugural flight connecting Taipei-Taoyuan and Cebu arrived on Tuesday, January 17. Using Airbus A321neo aircraft, Starlux now operates daily flights to Cebu.

“The addition of Starlux reinforces our commitment in establishing more connectivity for our passengers and the luxurious experience that Starlux offers also helps us in bring more options and better passenger experience. We are grateful and looking with much anticipation as we welcome Starlux into our network,” said Rafael Aboitiz, Director, GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corp.

“It is with much delight and gratitude to welcome Starlux Airlines to MCIA with its Cebu to Taipei service. The expansion of Starlux route to Cebu gives us an avenue to attain our goal of recovery and establishing wider connectivity,” said Julius Neri Jr., General Manager, Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority.

With the addition of Cebu, Starlux now operates flights to two destinations in the Philippines including to the capital city of Manila. Along with the two cities in the Philippines, the airline's overall network has grown to 15 destinations to include Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Okinawa, Sapporo, Macau, Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Hanoi.

The Mactan-Cebu Airport now has foreign 18 airlines operating from the central Philippine hub – 14 foreign and 4 Philippine-based carriers – connecting travellers from Cebu to 36 destinations – 26 domestic and 10 international.
