Cathay Pacific to introduce HBO Max content as part of inflight entertainment experience

Cathay Pacific has announced it is premiering the HBO Max branded channel in Asia becoming the first airline in the region to introduce HBO Max Originals as part of its inflight entertainment experience.

Starting January 1, 2022 the Hong Kong-based airline will be offering more than 200 hours of content during the first three months from the HBO Max Library. Among the popular shows to be featured include Succession, The White Lotus, The Undoing, and Mare of Eastown along with original series such as Friends: The Reunion, Hacks, Gossip Girl (2021), and the Flight Attendant. Also set to be included are all-time classics such as Sex and the City, The Sopranos, The Wire, Game of Thrones, and Band of Brothers.

Along with HBO Max content, the partnership also includes Warner Bros. movie library which includes Space Jam, Suicide Squad, and Dune.

The airline further added over the next year it plans to add over 300 hours of HBO Max content to the array of inflight entertainment options currently available.

“To be the first in Asia to launch the HBO Max brand, not just onboard flights but anywhere is exceptional. It’s a great example of an airline and streaming service working together to bring an unprecedented entertainment experience to passengers and we hope our customers find their next new binge-worthy show on Cathay Pacific,” said Vivian Lo, Cathay Pacific’s General Manager for Customer Experience and Design.

Lo added: “During the pandemic, we have been hard at work to bring our entertainment offering to new heights ready for the return of passengers. HBO Max offers some of the most critically acclaimed and exciting shows on the market. This partnership enables us to have more complete limited original series than ever before.”

The addition of HBO Max content will be part of Cathay Pacific’s inflight entertainment system which features seatback entertainment across its fleet on all long-haul flights and many short-haul flights operated by its A350, A321neo, and Boeing 777 aircraft.
