Philippine Airlines flies to New York

Aviation Updates Philippines - National flag carrier, Philippine Airlines, sent-off its inaugural flight to New York on March 15, 2015 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 after 17 years of absence. Philippine Airlines will fly to New York four times weekly. The inaugural flight also coincides with the carrier's 74th Founding Anniversary.

The new flight departs from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 using an Airbus A340-300. The flight stops at Vancouver and flies directly to New York after the stopover. However, the aircraft used for the inaugural flight was a Boeing 777-300ER.

"We are prioritizing our U.S. network expansion in answer to the clamor of the huge Filipino community in the U.S. East Coast. We are confident we will be able to meet the expectations of our passengers in New York with PAL's brand of quality service that is distinctively Filipino,” Philippine Airlines President, Jaime J. Bautista said

The New York flight will be Philippine Airlines' longest flight as it will fly for about 16 hours and 30 minutes. It will also be Philippine Airlines' fifth U.S. destination after Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu and Guam. The carrier will operate at the Terminal 1 of New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Flights depart Manila every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 11:50 PM. Arrival in Vancouver is 8:50 PM on the same day. After a two-hour stopover, the service continues on to New York at 10:50 PM, touching down at Terminal 1 of JFK International at 7:00 AM the following day.

The return service departs New York at 11:00 AM every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving in Vancouver at 1:50 PM. It departs the Canadian city at 3:20 PM and lands back in Manila at 8:35 PM the following day.
