Philippine Airlines New Routes and Schedule Changes

Aviation Updates Philippines - National flag carrier, Philippine Airlines, plans to resume flights to 8 domestic points in the Philippines. The carrier will revive its Cebu hub with flights to Tacloban, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Butuan, Iloilo and Zamboanga on March 29, 2015. In addition, Philippine Airlines will increase its international capacity in key destinations.

Revival of Domestic Routes

As of February 7, 2015, Philippine Airlines will resume flights in their Cebu hub. According to the facts that were collected during our research, Philippine Airlines terminated all routes on their Cebu hub (except Manila) in March 2014. This made netizens wonder if PAL Express will shut down or not.

Cebu - Bacolod flights
Based on Philippine Airlines' website, PAL Express will be flying three times a week from Cebu to Bacolod. PAL Express, in behalf of Philippine Airlines, will be flying every Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays using its Airbus A320-200 aircraft.

Cebu - Butuan flights
Flights between Cebu and Butuan will fly four times a week during Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Cebu - Cagayan de Oro flights
According to airlineroute.net, PAL Express will be flying from Cebu to Cagayan de Oro in a daily basis.

Cebu - Davao flights
PAL Express will be resuming its direct Cebu to Davao flights on March 29, 2015 after being terminated a year ago. The carrier will be flying between the two destinations in a daily basis.

Cebu - Iloilo flights
Cebu to Iloilo flights will be launched on March 29, 2015 together with other domestic routes flying in a daily basis.

Cebu - Tacloban flights
Flying daily, the Cebu to Tacloban flights will serve the two cities in the Visayas region. Recently, Pope Francis visited Tacloban from Manila to visit the Yolanda victims.

Davao - Zamboanga flights
Davao to Zamboanga flights was recently terminated together with the Davao to Cebu route. Flights were operated by a turboprop plane. The new route will be flying three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Iloilo - General Santos flights
Flights between Iloilo and General Santos connect Visayas and Mindanao. The route will be flying four times weekly on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

In addition, Philippine Airlines will resume its flights to Cebu on March 30, 2015. Flights between Manila and Davao will also resume on March 29, 2015, according to its website. On February 25, Philippine Airlines will resume its flights to Puerto Princesa from Manila for a new international flight directly to Taipei. Currently, PAL Express operates these routes.

International Reductions and Increases of Flight Frequencies, Aircraft Changes

As part of its expansions, Philippine Airlines will increase its flights to key international destinations. However, it will also decrease flights probably due to low demand of passengers.

*Manila – Seoul Incheon 2 daily service operated by A321, replacing 1 daily each of A321 and A330
*Manila – Taipei Taoyuan 2 of 6 weekly (Day 36 from MNL, Day 37 from TPE) operated by A321, replacing A320
