Xiamen Airlines plans Manila flights

Aviation Updates Philippines - Xiamen-based carrier, XiamenAir, will be launching flights between Xiamen and Manila that will certainly increase the number of Chinese tourists here in the Philippines. The first scheduled passenger flight of the Xiamen-Manila route by Xiamen Air will be on February 8, 2015.

According to airlineroute.net, flights between these two destinations will fly every day. XiamenAir Flight MF819 departs Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport at 6:20 PM and arrives in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 8:20 PM. The return flight, which is XiamenAir Flight MF819 departs Manila at 9:20 PM and arrives back in Xiamen at 11:20 PM.

Xiamen Airlines will be competing with Chinese and Philippine carriers such as Philippine Airlines operating daily flights, Cebu Pacific which only operates two weekly flights, and China Southern Airlines flying daily between Manila and Xiamen daily.

These flights will be operated by a Boeing 737-800 with a seating capacity of over 162 passengers in Economy Class and 8 passengers in Business Class. XiamenAir recently accepted the delivery of two Boeing 737-800 in December which will be used for the expansion of flights in the Asian region.  

XiamenAir, which was formerly known as Xiamen Airlines, is the first privately owned airline in the People's Republic of China. The airline was established on July 25, 1984 and started to operate direct flights from Xiamen to Fuzhou and Hangzhou. The carrier's fleet consists of 17 Boeing 737-700, 89 Boeing 737-800, 6 Boeing 757-200, and 2 Boeing 787-800.
