Philippine Airlines Organizes Party for Cebu to Nagoya and Osaka Inaugural Flights

Aviation Updates Philippines - National flag carrier, Philippine Airlines, recently launched its first flights from Cebu to Osaka and Nagoya on December 19, and December 20. Direct flights from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport to Osaka, Japan started on December 19, 2014 flying four times a week. The flight was welcomed by the authorities with a water canon salute. Meanwhile, flights from Cebu to Nagoya started on December 20, 2014 flying three times a week. These new routes will bring to 67 the total number of Philippine Airlines flights to Japan per week.

During the party, Philippine Airlines' OIC Country Manager Harry Inoferio announced that the flag carrier will also launch flights to New York from Manila via Vancouver after 17 years of absence. It will launch flights to New York on March 15, 2014, coinciding with the carrier's 74th Founding Anniversary.

"We're ready," Philippine Airlines' Sales and Services Managers said during the party. The party was attended by key people for the inauguration of the new flights. VIPs were also present in the party such as Japan’s Consul in Cebu Shoji Otake with his wife; Regional Director of the Department of Tourism, Rowena Montecillo; Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Tess Chan; and Philippine Airlines' million miler, Dr. Jose Enrique de las Peñas. Cebu City's Mayor Michael Rama also showed up in the event.

Richard Poon a Chinese Filipino singer-songwriter and TV personality, served as the party's entertainment. He sang to an attentive bevy of news gals out front on a velvet sofa: Flor Ynclino, Chinggay Utzurrum, Mila Espina, Honey Loop, Nelia Neri and Cookie Newman, who both won those special tickets raffled to the Cebu press.

Philippine Airlines currently operates flights directly from Cebu to Tokyo Narita flying 14 times a week. The launching of the new air services is the flag carrier's response to strong public clamor for new routes to Japan, considered the third biggest source of visitor arrivals to the country. Aside from Cebu, Philippine Airlines flies 11 times a week to Haneda, 14 times a week to Narita, seven times a week to Nagoya, seven times a week to Osaka, and seven times a week to Kansa from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila.

  1. At some places our party planner even exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend her to anyone getting married in the area. We were pleased to work with her and she was very accommodating, thorough, and knowledgeable.
