VIDEO: Airbus delivers the first Airbus A380 for Asiana Airlines

Aviation Updates Philippines - South Korea's Asiana Airlines accepts the delivery of the first Airbus A380 from Airbus. Asiana Airlines will be the 11th operator of the Airbus A380 following Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Qantas, China Southern Airlines, Air France, Lufthansa, Korean Air, Malaysia Airlines, Thai Airways, and British Airways.

The A380 was handed over to Park Sam Koo, Chairman of Kumho Asiana Group, by Fabrice Brégier, Airbus President and CEO, during a special ceremony today in Toulouse, France. Asiana Airlines currently ordered 6 Airbus A380s which is powered by Rolls Royce Engines. 

The A380 of Asiana Airlines can accommodate 495 passengers, 12 private suites in First Suite, 66 fully flat seats in Business Smartium and 417 seats in Travel Class which are all equipped with In-Flight Entertainment system.

Park Sam Koo, Chairman of Kumho Asiana Group said, “We are delighted to receive our first A380 today, which is key to our future vision and fleet modernisation strategy.” South Korean carrier Asiana Airlines will deploy its A380 to Tokyo, Hong Kong and Bangkok, followed by long-haul routes to Los Angeles.

Currently, Asiana Airlines ordered 30 Airbus A350-900. The efficiency of the A350 can lower operating costs by 25 percent. The A380 and A350 will complement an existing Airbus fleet at Asiana that currently includes the A330 and A320 Family.
