Aviation Updates Philippines - A Philippine Air Force Fokker F27 plane nosedived at Legazpi Airport around 10 AM today, May 11, 2015, after the plane lost its nose wheel upon landing. The plane arrived from Tacloban.
According to Lt. Colonel Luisito Angeles, commander of Tactical Operations Group 5 of the Philippine Air Force, the F27's nose wheel failed which caused the light aircraft to nosedive at around 10:13 AM, Rappler stated.
The plane was carrying three passengers and was piloted by a certain Captain Valdez. The passengers came from Mactan-Cebu. “They were here for a mission, we are doing our best effort to remove the aircraft in the runway,” said Angeles.
Meanwhile, Legazpi Airport's operations were affected by the incident. Cebu Pacific flights to Legazpi were cancelled. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines announced the runway's temporary closure from May 11, 2015 (11:29AM) to May 11, 2015 (5:30PM).
According to Cebu Pacific, passengers of the affected flights may rebook their flights for travel within 30 days from original departure date; or opt for full refund or travel fund.
