Flights to and from Bangkok wont be affected by Martial Law
Aviation Updates Philippines - Due to the declaration of martial law in Thailand, passengers that are travelling to and from Bangkok might wonder if their flights were cancelled. But, the good news is, flights will continue to operate as scheduled.
Meanwhile, the declaration of martial law was hurting tourist arrivals which fell by 4.9% in the first four months of 2014. With tourism accounting for as much as 10% of gross domestic product, keeping hotels and shopping malls open and busy is key for Southeast Asia's second-largest economy, famous for its ancient Buddhist temples and pristine beaches.
Cebu Pacific Air will still continue to fly to Bangkok. The airline, however, advised their passengers to to allot at least three to four spare hours for commuting to the Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi Airport because of the martial law in effect in Thailand.
"Our flights to and from Bangkok and Phuket, Thailand continue to operate as scheduled. The Suvharnabumi Airport and Phuket International Airport remain open at this time," an airline official said. The airline also advised its passengers to check the flight status before heading to the airport.
However, Philippine Airlines will continue to operate flights between Manila and Bangkok, operating its MNL-BKK route (daily) via PR 730 and PR 736 and its BKK-MNL route (daily) via PR 731 and PR 737. Passengers of Bangkok-Manila flights are being advised to allot more lead time in traveling to the airport in view of potential traffic.
Tigerair Philippines, on a status update on Facebook, said that passengers who booked flights between Clark and Bangkok will be offered rebooking or refund within May 23 - June 5. For inquiries, please contact (02) 7020888 for assistance and more details.
