NAIA Terminal 3 continues operations amid electrical upgrades

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) announced ongoing electrical upgrades at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, assuring the public that operations will continue as usual with minimal disruption to passengers.

The electrical upgrade, which involves the replacement of parts in eight electrical substations, is scheduled to run from April 2 to May 28, 2024.

MIAA General Manager Eric Ines clarified that the maintenance activities are strategically planned to occur during off-peak hours, specifically between 12:01 AM and 3:00 AM, to avoid any impact on flight operations and passenger processing.

“The electrical upgrade activities shall not in any way impede the processing of passengers and baggage and shall have no disruptive effect on flight operations. There will be light and air conditioning in major parts of the Terminal building during the day.”

While major areas of the terminal will remain unaffected, the south side of NAIA Terminal 3 will experience a reduction in lighting and air conditioning during the maintenance window. This includes hallways, lobbies, staircases, certain offices, and parking areas. Additionally, elevators and escalators on the south side may be temporarily inoperative.

MIAA assures the public that all Terminal 3 generators are on standby to address any contingencies during the maintenance work.
