Laoag Airport closes due to quake-damaged runway

Laoag International Airport (ICAO: RPLI) has been closed since 7:27 am (UTC +8) on Wednesday due to the closure of its only runway.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) released a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) informing of the suspension of landing and take-off operations on the airport’s Runway 01/19.

The runway suffered cracks and damages caused by the recent earthquake; therefore, it would need to undergo inspection and repair. As of latest estimates, the closure will extend until October 27 at 10:00 pm.

National flag carrier Philippine Airlines announced today the temporary suspension of flights to Laoag until Thursday evening.

To give way for the repairs, PAL announced the cancellation of six flights from October 26-27.
