Clark Airport’s new terminal begins operations

Clark International Airport’s brand-new terminal is now open to passenger operations after its formal inauguration last Monday, May 2, 2022.

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade led the inauguration of the passenger terminal building (PTB), designed to operate at up to eight million passengers annually.

“Despite and notwithstanding the COVID-19 pandemic, sige-sige at tuluy-tuloy ang trabaho para mapakinabangan agad ang proyekto ng ating mga kababayan. Kaya naman natapos sa kabila ng pandemya. This project is a living proof that if we work together and jointly commit ourselves to provide a life of comfort and convenience for all, nothing will be impossible,” Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Art Tugade said.

The construction of the PTB finished in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. On December 14, 2021, airport authorities conducted the first operational dry-run on Cebu Pacific flight 5J-607 (Clark-Cebu).

The new terminal, which is expected to decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila, boasts state-of-the-art architecture and systems.

According to the DOTr, the 110,000 square-meter terminal has self-service check-in kiosks and bag drop systems, all-gender restrooms, nursing stations, multi-faith prayer rooms, and the country’s first-ever lounge exclusively for our modern-day heroes, the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Presently, eight airlines are operating out of Clark—two of which are local carriers while the rest are international carriers. All passenger flights from these airlines are now operating out of the newly-inaugurated terminal.
