Vietnam's Pacific Airlines reveals new branding
Aviation Updates Philippines – Following the decision by QANTAS's backed Jestar to exit from
its venture in Vietnam – Jetstar Pacific – the Vietnam-based budget carrier
has unveiled its new branding for its future and return to its Pacific
Airlines name.
The new branding for Pacific Airlines was first revealed on July 31 includes
the carrier's new logo, aircraft livery, and website.
The new logo and branding will feature “three wings” in blue and orange
colors, removed from the black, orange, and silver colors of the Jetstar group
of carriers. On a Facebook post, the airline describes the logo as “stylized
from three wings of the aircraft with a layout arranged in larger sizes, a
metaphor for its continuous development efforts on the basis of safe operation
for nearly 30 years.”
Along with the changes of its branding, Pacific Airlines is also working to
switch its reservation system to be more aligned with its parent company
Vietnam Airlines. The carrier has partnered with US-based Sabre to institute a
common technology platform for the two carriers.
“Vietnam Airlines Group is delighted to build on our existing agreement with
Sabre, our trusted and long-term technology partner,” said Trinh Hong Quang,
Vietnam Airlines Executive Vice President and Pacific Airlines Chairman. “It
is especially important right now to have the most robust, agile and advanced
technology solutions possible to propel our business into the future. While
everyone in the travel industry is experiencing an unprecedented situation, we
are very much focused on moving forward with our PSS Transformation program to
place us in the best position for recovery, growth and future expansion.
While the airline's website has already been set up (www.pacificairlines.com),
customers will be redirected to Vietnam Airlines' website to complete bookings
and payments during the first phase of the transition period.
Based in Ho Chi Minh City, Pacific Airlines – the former Jetstar Pacific –
operates a fleet of 18 Airbus A320s to domestic and international
destinations. Parent company Vietnam Airlines owns a 98% majority stake in the
budget carrier. Prior to Jetstar's involvement in 2008, the airline also
operated under the Pacific Airlines name.
Vietnam Airlines plans to use the budget carrier as part of a dual-development
strategy for operational efficiency in both traditional and low-cost travel
within Vietnam's aviation market.
