The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) and the Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) are gearing up for the 2024 Aviation Summit, set to take place on October 2-3 in Pasay City.

This year’s event aims to spotlight the pivotal role of the Philippine aviation industry in driving economic progress while advocating for sustainable development within the sector.

According to ECCP President Paulo Duarte, the Summit will facilitate critical discussions to shape the future of Philippine and regional aviation. “The aviation sector serves as a catalyst for trade, investment, commerce, and connectivity in the country,” he stated.

A key focus will be addressing challenges related to pending legislative reforms, such as restructuring the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) into a regulatory body and establishing the Philippine Airports Authority and the Philippine Transportation Safety Board.

AsBAA Vice Chairman Maximilian Motschmann highlighted the Summit’s expanded scope, stating, “This vital aspect will be further explored during the upcoming 2024 Aviation Summit, which will leverage this success and chart a way forward for a comprehensive climb to higher heights in the country’s aviation sector.”

The event will feature presentations and panel discussions on meeting global standards for airport operations, capacity building for Filipino aviation professionals, and the role of the private sector and airlines in aviation development.

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Roberto Lim emphasized the collective efforts required, saying, “As One PH Aviation, we can only go far if we go forward together.”

Representatives from Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific underscored the airlines’ roles as drivers of innovation and infrastructure improvements within the industry.

“With this, Cebu Pacific is proud to be co-presenting the second Philippine Aviation Summit as we did last year. We are excited to take part in the mission to improve the country’s aviation sector and propel a new era of growth and development,” said Cebu Pacific Strategy Officer Alex Reyes.

“As the post-pandemic recovery in air travel continues, it is critical that the sector’s key stakeholders come together and look to the future, to ensure the long-term success of the industry, and the benefits that it brings to the people and economy of the Philippines,” added Alex Featherstone, Vice President for Revenue Management at Philippine Airlines. “For this reason, Philippine Airlines is proud to be supporting, and participating in, the 2024 Aviation Summit.”

The 2024 Aviation Summit promises robust dialogue and collaboration among industry leaders to propel the Philippine aviation sector forward.
