EVA Air expands fleet with order of Airbus A350s, A321neos

AviationUpdatesPH.com – Taiwan’s EVA Air has committed to a significant fleet expansion by placing a firm order for 18 A350-1000 and 15 A321neo aircraft from Airbus. This move positions the airline to bolster both its long-haul and regional operations with fuel-efficient and passenger-centric planes.

“We have selected the Airbus aircraft following a thorough evaluation of the various models in each market segment,” said Clay Sun, President of EVA Air. “In both size categories we have selected the most modern and fuel efficient types, that offer the highest levels of passenger comfort.”

The A350-1000s, known for their long range and spacious cabins, will cater to EVA Air’s long-haul routes. Boasting a 25% fuel reduction compared to older generation aircraft, these planes contribute to the airline’s environmental ambitions.

“For long-range operations the A350-1000 sets new standards in its class and will allow us to offer our passengers the best possible in-flight experience,” added Sun.

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales, Commercial Aircraft, hailed the order as a pivotal moment in the relationship between the two companies. “This order marks a new phase in our relationship with EVA Air and we thank the airline for its confidence in Airbus,” he stated.

For its regional network, EVA Air has opted for the A321neo, renowned for its fuel-saving capabilities thanks to its advanced engines and cabin design. This fuel efficiency aligns with the airline's dedication to environmental responsibility.

“We also thank EVA for reaffirming its commitment to the latest generation Airbus single aisle family with its first direct purchase of the A321neo and we look forward to working closely with the airline as it prepares for its new Airbus fleet,” expressed Saint-Exupéry.

The order adds to the ever-growing popularity of both aircraft families. The A350 family has garnered over 1,000 orders from 60 customers worldwide, with over 570 already in operation. The A321neo, meanwhile, has captured a staggering 65% market share with over 5,600 orders received since its launch in 2016.

This acquisition by EVA Air signifies a significant investment in its future, promising enhanced passenger experiences, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability across both its long-haul and regional networks.
