The Taipei-based airline currently operates a fleet of 10 787s, including four 787-9s and six 787-10s. The latest repeat order for 787s reflects EVA Air's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and operating a more sustainable fleet.

The 787-9 Dreamliner is a long-range, wide-body jetliner that is known for its fuel efficiency and passenger comfort. It is the second-largest variant of the 787 Dreamliner family, after the 787-10.

"Our 787 fleet has become the foundation of our carbon-neutral growth strategy and we will continue to leverage this airplane's unrivaled efficiency and performance for many years to come," said Clay Sun, President of EVA Air.

"This new order supports our ongoing commitment to operate a more sustainable fleet that will enable us to reduce carbon emissions, while providing our passengers with world-class service."

The 787-9 Dreamliner's modern design, which includes the use of lightweight composite materials and GEnx engines, is expected to improve EVA Air's capacity, range, and fuel efficiency. Compared to earlier-generation aircraft, the 787-9 is believed to be more efficient and has the potential to enhance EVA Air's operational capabilities.

The new aircraft will be used to expand EVA Air's long-haul network, with routes to North America, Europe and Asia being considered. The order will also help EVA Air to reduce its carbon emissions and operate a more sustainable fleet.

"EVA Air operates one of the most efficient and sustainable widebody fleets in the world, with repeat orders for the 787 serving as a testament to the value this family of airplanes brings to its network," said Stan Deal, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

"With additional Dreamliners, EVA Air is well positioned for growth, especially as passenger traffic returns to pre-pandemic levels in Asia," said Mr. Deal.

EVA Air is a Taiwanese airline that is headquartered in Taipei. It is the flag carrier of Taiwan and is one of the largest airlines in Asia. EVA Air operates a fleet of over 85 aircraft, consisting of 77 passenger and eight cargo aircraft.
