In a press release, AirAsia said the airline plans to return to the two megacities in December, just in time to cater to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW), who will be returning home for the holiday season. Moreover, the resumption of these routes will pave the way for business travelers to connect to these destinations seamlessly.

AirAsia Philippines Spokesperson Steve Dailisan said, “Hong Kong and Singapore have always been key markets for AirAsia primarily because of the number of OFWs present in these economic hubs. This is why we are very much excited to kickstart the return of our international flights with these routes.”

“To us at AirAsia, this signals the much-anticipated post pandemic recovery, and there’s no better time to celebrate it with the warm homecoming of Filipinos for Christmas. The AirAsia team has extensively prepared for this, and we are delighted to take part in these meaningful family reunions.”

Flights to Hong Kong will begin on December 5, flying every Sunday and Tuesday. Z2-1264 will leave Manila at 8:35 am and will arrive in Hong Kong at 10:55 am. The return flight, Z2-1265, will depart from Hong Kong at 11:55 am and arrive in Manila at 2:00 pm.

Meanwhile, AirAsia will also operate weekly flights to Singapore every Saturday. Flight Z2-825 will depart from Manila at 8:00 am and will arrive in Singapore at 11:40 am. From Singapore, Z2-826 will depart at 12:25 pm and will arrive back in Manila at 4:00 pm.

The Philippines has categorized Hong Kong under the Green list, which means fully vaccinated travelers will no longer be required to undergo quarantine but will be asked to submit a negative RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure.

However, fully vaccinated travelers coming from Singapore, which falls under the Yellow list, will be required to undergo a 5-day quarantine until the release of their RT-PCR test. They will then be allowed to finish their quarantine at home.

AirAsia is also offering several discounts to celebrate the resumption of the route. OFWs flying to Singapore are entitled to a 10 percent discount using promo code BLKBYN10 for bookings between November 8-21, 2021, with a travel period of December 4, 2021, to March 26, 2022.

Another 10 percent discount will also be up for grabs for OFWs for bookings made until November 14, with a travel period of December 1, 2021, to March 26, 2022. Special discounts on baggage and hotels for quarantine stay are also available at the AirAsia website and app.

Dailisan added, “This is our warm welcome for our beloved OFWs. Whatever savings they get from the affordable deals AirAsia offers can be squeezed in for added gifts to the balikbayan boxes they’ll be flying home for their families this Christmas. Moreover, we hope to put warm smiles to their faces as we fly them home safely, and give them peace of mind with our world class service.”
