In a release from the airline, AirAsia Thailand (FD) announced it will temporarily suspend domestic flights effective July 12 until July 31. The move is in support of the containment efforts by the Thai government amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

AirAsia Thailand stated: “AirAsia always places the safety and wellbeing of its guests and employees as its top priority. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will be prepared to reinstate our scheduled flight services again as soon as possible.”

The carrier has advised that customers affected will receive an SMS detailing their available options.

AirAsia Thailand is the second AirAsia Group subsidiary to announce a temporary hibernation of flights within a week. Its Indonesia-based subsidiary AirAsia Indonesia announced it would suspend regularly scheduled flight operations for a month from July 6 and August 6. The Jakarta-based airline will still operate cargo and chartered flights in support of the transport of essential goods and the repatriation of travelers under strict health and safety protocols.
