Vietnam Airlines puts 11 A321s up for sale

Aviation Updates Philippines – Vietnam Airlines plans to sell 11 of its Airbus A321s through an auction as the Vietnamese flag carrier struggles amid the global pandemic.

In a short post on its website, the airline is seeking bids to be submitted for the aircraft by June 29. Vietnam Airlines has identified the aircraft to be sold with the following manufacture serial numbers: 2255, 2261, 2974, 3005, 3013, 3022, 3198, 3315, 3355, 3600, and 3737.

In a report from Flight Global, the airline will be selling its oldest A321s built between 2004 and 2008. The jets have an average age of around 14.4 years.

According to planespotters.net, Vietnam Airlines operates a fleet of around 100 aircraft, with around 69 A321s. The A321 fleet includes 49 A321-200 and 20 A321neo. 

The A321s are the primary narrow-body aircraft for Vietnam Airlines, as the rest of the fleet comprises of Airbus A350s and Boeing 787s.
