Aviation Updates Philippines – National flag carrier Philippine Airlines flew direct from Manila, Philippines to Rickenbacker International Airport, Columbus, Ohio (USA) for a cargo-only flight.

The Airbus A350 flight to the United States carried a combination of electronics and general cargo, says PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna.

Flight PR-8128 departed from Manila on April 3 at 2:15 pm, and arrived in Columbus at 5:41 pm local time. After unloading essential goods, PR-8129 then departed to Manila on April 4 at 12:14 am local time and is expected to arrive tomorrow, April 5, at 5:00 am.

The Manila-Rickenbackerg flight leg logged a 15-hour and 5-minute flight time, which is already considered as an ultra long-haul flight (flights having a flight time of 12 hours and longer.)

The flight to Columbus was manned by Capt. Michael Ugalino, First Officer Al-Rasid Jr. Usman Iribani, Second Officers Anthony John Bayani and Martin Tong.

Meanwhile, the return flight is piloted by Capt. Reginald Cruz, First Officers Vincent Gambalan and Vincent Uy, and First Officers Jomel Jack Ermitanio and Perfecto Fela Rosa III.

This, however, is not the first instance that the flag carrier has landed in Columbus. The American destination has already hosted several flights from Philippine Airlines, mostly carrying general cargo.
