Emirates introduces discounted pre-departure COVID-19 PCR testing

Aviation Updates Philippines – Dubai-based carrier Emirates has teamed up with GE Digital Aviation Software and blockchain-based farm-to-table traceability solution TE Food to offer a mobile app that allows passengers to undergo COVID-19 PCR testing at a discounted rate.

With the TrustOne App, those flying with Emirates will be offered discounted rates for PCR tests through Eurofins at one of its global lab facilities. Passengers can also manage all related information through the app, including finding lab locations, booking an appointment, and receiving test results.

The TrustOne App — which can be downloaded for free on iOS and Android devices — is currently available as a trial for passengers in the United Arab Emirates, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, and the Netherlands. Passengers in the UAE can enjoy a special rate of AED 130, while those in other countries can expect to pay between €70 and €90 depending on their country of origin.

During the trial period, passengers will still need to print the PCR certificates as per the current requirements of the country they will be traveling to.

The second phase of this initiative, which is expected to commence in the next few months, will see the launch of the app in more countries and will allow passengers to use the app to validate their test results while checking in at the airport.

"We are constantly looking for solutions to improve our customer experience. Travel requirements today are dynamic, and ever more than ever, our goal is to give our customers confidence and enable them to travel safely," Adel Al Redha, Emirates' Chief Operating Officer, said in a statement.

He added: "With this latest solution, provided in partnership by GE Digital Aviation Software and TE Food, passengers will be able to easily source accurate information on tests, approved laboratories to get tested, as well as other vital measures to be taken prior to travel. We look forward to working with our partners on a successful trial and to expand the app's offering and benefits to our customers in the future."
