PAL, Cebu Pacific resume Tawi-Tawi flights
Aviation Updates Philippines – Two of the Philippines' largest airlines are now planning to resume
direct flights between Zamboanga and Tawi-Tawi in Southern Mindanao, as part of
a roundup of several flight resumptions in 2021.
Aboard an Airbus A320-200 aircraft, Cebu Pacific Air operates
Zamboanga-Tawi-Tawi-Zamboanga flights every Saturday. The low-cost airline
resumed the said service on December 19, 2020, after a nine-month cessation.
Flight 5J-839 departs from Zamboanga at 8:30 am and arrives in Tawi-Tawi an
hour later. The return flight, 5J-840, departs from Tawi-Tawi at 10:00 am and
arrives back in Zamboanga at 11:00 am.
Moreover, national flag carrier Philippine Airlines released on Monday the
timetable for January 2021 flights and beyond with the addition of
Zamboanga-Tawi-Tawi flights as well. Beginning January 11, PAL Express will
fly between the two cities every Monday.
Flight 2P-2485 departs from Zamboanga at 10:20 am and arrives in Tawi-Tawi at
11:20 am. Subsequently, flight 2P-2486 departs from Tawi-Tawi at 12:00 pm and
lands in Zamboanga at 1:00 pm. An Airbus A320 is deployed on the route.
Airlines have been ramping up flights to stimulate and to aid in the recovery
of air travel demand in the Philippines. For January, PAL indicated it would
operate over 40 domestic and 21 international routes. Meanwhile, rival Cebu
Pacific plans to fly 41 domestic and five international routes.
