PAL opens One-Stop-Shop for COVID-19 testing at NAIA T2
Aviation Updates Philippines –
National flag carrier Philippine Airlines has rolled out a One-Stop-Shop (OSS)
at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 intended to perform RT-PCR
tests for arriving Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and authorized foreign
nationals.
PAL's OSS will be operational by August 1, which will augment the airport's
current capacity to screen travellers and process quarantine requirements for
passengers. The OSS is accredited by the National Task Force (NTF), the
Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and the Department of Health (DOH).
According to Philippine Airlines Spokesperson Cielo Villaluna, PAL's new
facility is capable of running through 1,200 tests per day while producing
test results within 48 hours. It will run in tandem with the government-run
IATF One-Stop-Shop facility that will now exclusively serve arriving OFWs.
"The flag carrier set up this new One-Stop-Shop, dedicated to non-OFW
travelers, to complement the government's current One-Stop-Shop for OFWs. This
is industry and government working in unison with a common goal: to ensure
ease and convenience of passengers as they go through testing protocols on
arrival," the airline said.
The facility will enable PAL to avoid rerouting flights to either Clark or
Cebu due to processing constraints in Manila. Since June 27, the OSS has
undergone trials and has successfully processed passengers arriving from San
Francisco and other selected international flights.
