AirAsia adjusts flight schedules amid MECQ

Aviation Updates Philippines – Following the government's latest announcement of the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) over Metro Manila, low-cost carrier AirAsia Philippines has announced it will adjust flight schedules for flights departing and arriving in Manila.

Beginning August 4, government authorities imposed a restriction on domestic flights and a limitation for international flights for areas under MECQ until August 18. This forced the cancellation of flights from major airlines in the Philippines operating out of Manila.

For the duration of the MECQ, AirAsia will only operate Clark-Davao-Clark and Cebu-Davao-Cebu for the domestic sector. The low-cost airline will also operate Manila-Kuala Lumpur-Manila and Manila-Don Mueang-Manila flights.

Available flights through AirAsia from August 4 to 18, 2020 only:
  • Clark-Davao-Clark (every Saturday)
  • Cebu-Davao-Cebu (every Thursday)
  • Manila-Kuala Lumpur-Manila (every Wednesday)
  • Manila Don Mueang-Manila (every Monday)

Meanwhile, AirAsia plans to resume flights to and from Manila on August 19. The airline will operate flights from Manila to Cebu, Davao, Tacloban, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Caticlan, Kalibo, Puerto Princesa, and Iloilo afterward.

AirAsia, however, has removed Manila-Chengdu-Manila and Manila-Taipei-Manila flights from its route network for the month of August. It has recently filed for once-weekly flights on these two routes but has since been axed.
