Aviation Updates Philippines – Flight simmers have been waiting for this! Xbox Game Studios and Asobo Studio have announced that the latest installment to the Flight Simulator franchise, Microsoft Flight Simulator, will be released on August 18, 2020 for PC.

"We have been thrilled and humbled by the support and dedication that has fueled the Flight Sim community for the past 38 years. Since the launch of the very first Microsoft Flight Simulator in 1982, we knew it was finally the right time to develop the next-generation version of Microsoft Flight Simulator," Jorg Neumann, Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator said in an Xbox newswire.

He added: "We have the right tools, technology, partners and hardware to release the most realistic and authentic flight simulator to date."

And in case we haven't mentioned, MFS is already available for pre-order at the Microsoft Store and other accredited flight simulator retailers such as Aerosoft and SimMarket. The simulator comes in three versions: standard, deluxe, and premium deluxe.

Aircraft MFS
In-game aircraft for MFS.

Airports MFS
Hand-crafted, detailed airports for MFS.

The Standard Edition ($59.99) offers 20 highly detailed planes with unique flight models and 30 hand-crafted airports. The Deluxe Edition ($89.99) will feature five more planes and hand-crafted airports while the Premium Deluxe Edition ($119.99) will have 10 more aircraft and airports.

MFS uses artificial intelligence, specifically Microsoft's Azure technology, to replicate a 1:1 scale of worldwide scenery, making flying "as real as it gets." The developers have also tapped Bing Maps to simulate the Earth's terrain and textures.

The new simulator, first announced during the E3 2019 on June last year, features vivid and detailed landscapes, live traffic and real-time weather, highly-detailed aircraft (from the Cessna 172 to the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner), a new checklist system, new day & night engine, state-of-the-art physics engine, among others.

The minimum system requirements for MFS would be 8GB RAM, 2GB VRAM, Intel i5-4460 or Ryzen 3 1200 equivalents, NVIDIA GTX 770 or AMD Radeon RX 570. The recommended specs are at 16GB RAM, 4GB VRAM, Intel i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 1500X, and NVIDIA GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX590. It requires a 64-bit Windows 10 and DirectX 11 to run.
