Cebu Pacific's international flights to remain cancelled until July
Aviation Updates Philippines – While the situation remains fluid, budget carrier Cebu Pacific announced
Wednesday all international flights would remain cancelled at least until
July 2020.
Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific said domestic flights remain limited depending on
passenger demand, quarantine conditions and travel restrictions. However,
the airline warned it might mount or reduce the number of trips “at the last
minute” as the situation progresses.
For June, the airline plans to operate flights to Cebu, General Santos,
Davao, Cotabato, Panglao, Legazpi, Pagadian, Cagayan de Oro, Naga, Tacloban,
Bacolod, Dipolog, Coron, Tablas, and Roxas.
Starting July 1, Cebu Pacific eyes to restart commercial flights from Manila
to Butuan, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Masbate, Ozamiz, Bohol, Tuguegarao, and Coron;
and from Cebu to Clark. Local government restrictions have prompted the
cancellation of flights to some Philippine cities and provinces; hence, Cebu
Pacific employs a more agile approach in their service restart.
Based on the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) June 15
list, 25 airports have already reopened while 24 more remain shut. However,
Basco, Virac, Butuan, Surigao, Siargao, San Vicente, and Busuanga airports
are bound to open soon.
Cebu Pacific, moreover, reminded passengers to confirm flights before
proceeding to the airport: “We would like to remind that only passengers
with confirmed flights are advised to go to the airport. We will keep
providing updates as soon as it’s available.”
The Air Carriers Association of the Philippines (ACAP), an airline group
comprising Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and Philippines AirAsia,
recently appealed to passengers not to proceed to airports without a
confirmed flight itinerary.
“Passengers are strongly urged to check the email address and mobile numbers
provided to the airlines upon booking their flights for any changes to their
flight schedules. Those who booked through travel agencies or asked others
to book their flights should also check with them for any updates,” ACAP
said.
I am struggling to understand why almost every other country is giving news about their intentions to open their border, whereas Philippines seem to be telling people NOTHING regarding the situation moving forward?
