PAL to resume select flights by June 2020
Aviation Updates Philippines – National flag carrier, Philippine Airlines, announced Friday
night it will gradually resume operations to select international destinations beginning June 1, 2020, and to select domestic destinations beginning June 8, 2020.
Finally, after several setbacks, PAL will now be able to resume air links
to key domestic and international destinations. For the month of June, the
air carrier plans to initially operate 21 international and 24 domestic
routes.
According to PAL, the airline will continue to evaluate if it may be
feasible to fly to Sydney and London for June 2020. However, the company
stressed some Australian and Asian destinations will still be suspended
until further notice.
"We plan to increase the number
of routes and flights in the coming months, if allowed by aviation
authorities, global public health conditions and the travel environment,"
PAL said.
This, after the Philippine government is set to downgrade Manila's status
to general community quarantine (GCQ) on the same day. For places under GCQ, public transportation, including air travel, will
now be allowed for essential, not leisure, purposes.

For June 2020, the company said international flights would depart from NAIA Terminal 1 while it would arrive at NAIA Terminal 2. All domestic flights would depart from Terminal 2.
Meanwhile, PAL reassures its passengers that safety and security are
utmost aboard their aircraft. The company now requires passengers to wear
face masks at all times and to observe physical distancing at the airport
and throughout the flight.
PAL said: "Our cabin crew would have undergone rapid antibody testing
prior to the flight, and will be wearing full Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE) for your protection on board the flight. A modified meal
and snack service will be offered on board, using sealed packaging
instead of traditional meals."
"Don’t worry about the cabin air --- all PAL aircraft are equipped with
high-technology systems that continuously infuse fresh air across the
cabin (cabin air is replaced every 2 to 3 minutes), as well as HEPA
filters that trap viruses, bacteria and other contaminants with 99.9%
efficiency. The onboard air creates a cleaner environment that is safer
than most enclosed public spaces and comparable to hospital operating
rooms."
