PAL mounts special flights to Los Angeles, New York

Aviation Updates Philippines – National flag carrier, Philippine Airlines has scheduled thirteen special flights from Los Angeles and New York from late-April to early-May 2020 to serve as a repatriation flight for Filipino citizens who are stranded overseas.

"These special USA-Manila flights will be allowed to carry only Filipino nationals/Philippine passport holders, their foreign spouses and children, and accredited officials of foreign governments and international organizations, to comply with current Philippine travel entry restrictions," PAL said.

Since the enforcement of the enhanced community quarantine in Manila, the Philippine government has shut down its borders for foreign arrivals except for Filipinos, and their spouses and children. As of the moment, the international flights that are currently operating are for these passengers only.

For the New York-Manila sector, the airline will operate a single flight a day on May 4, May 4, 6, 8, 9, and 10. PR-5127 will depart from JFK at 7:15 pm local time and will arrive in Manila at 11:45 pm local time the next day.

Meanwhile, PAL will also operate limited Los Angeles-Manila flights on May 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, 2020. PR-5103 will depart from Los Angeles at 11:15 pm local time and will arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 4:45 am local time the next day.

On April 29, the flag carrier flew a Los Angeles-Manila flight as part of this special mission. A Boeing 777-300ER was sent to the US city for a "repatriation" flight.
