Xiamen Airlines adds daily cargo flights to Manila
Aviation Updates Philippines – Xiamen Airlines launched Tuesday its first cargo-only flight to the Philippines on-board the airline's Boeing 737-800 fleet.
In a Facebook post, the Chinese airline said it will launch daily all-cargo flights to Manila, coined as the "air bridge of life", to immediately deliver urgent equipment to the Philippine capital.
During the inaugural service, almost 7,000 kilograms worth of essential medical cargo were loaded onto the Manila-bound jet.
"Starting today, we will be operating a daily cargo charter between Xiamen and Manila, building an air bridge of life to deliver urgently needed materials for the anti-virus fight, Xiamen Airlines said.
Flight MF-819 departs from Xiamen at 10:00 am local time and arrives in Manila at 12:30 pm local time. After an hour and a half turnaround time, flight MF-820 will then depart back to Xiamen at 2:00 pm local time.
Xiamen Airlines said that more cargo-only flights are expected to be launched soon.
