PH airlines suspend flights for the rest of April

Aviation Updates Philippines – Due to the 15-day extension of the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon, airlines in the Philippines have announced the cancellation of all scheduled domestic and international flights for April.

Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Philippines AirAsia, and AirSWIFT Airlines, through their social media pages, informed the public that all flights scheduled from April 15, 2020, until April 30, 2020, have been canceled.

"We confirm that all Philippine Airlines domestic and international flights are canceled up to April 30, 2020," PAL said.

The flag carrier added: "The continued pause in our operations is in compliance with the Luzon Enhanced Community Quarantine, which the Philippine Government has officially extended until April 30.  We are in the process of notifying affected passengers by e-mail (many of you may have already received a notification by now)."

For affected PAL guests, they may opt to convert their tickets into a travel voucher with 10 percent more from the full ticket value and to rebook their flights 'unlimited' with fees waived. Besides, affected passengers may also reroute and refund their tickets.

According to PAL, operations are anticipated to resume starting May 1, 2020, subject to the government's approval.

Cebu Pacific Air 

Cebu Pacific today suspended domestic and international flights until April 30, 2020, given the extension of the enhanced community quarantine.

Passengers on canceled flights may avail of free rebooking with fees waived, full travel fund valid for one year, and full refund. However, processing of refunds will start on May 4, 2020, once quarantine protocols are lifted and regular work continues.

Philippines AirAsia

AirAsia has also suspended flight operations for the rest of April

"Following the Philippine government’s directive of extending the enhanced community quarantine period in Luzon, AirAsia is canceling all domestic and international Z2 flights until 30 April 2020," the low-cost airline said.

According to AirAsia, affected guests will be notified of these cancellations through SMS and e-mail. Furthermore, the airline encourages its passengers to update their contact details through the 'Manage Booking' function of the AirAsia website.

AirAsia now offers unlimited flight change (rebooking) and credit account options for passengers who booked their flights on or before March 22, 2020, with a travel date of up to May 31, 2020.

AirSWIFT Airlines

According to AirSWIFT advisory no. 8, the airline will cancel all remaining flights to and from El Nido until April 30, 2020.

AirSWIFT passengers may rebook flights after April 30, 2020, have their ticket value stored in a travel fund, and refund the full cost of the ticket (with the exemption of the travel insurance).

"We assure our passengers that we will maintain to commit on delivering our service with utmost safety and convenience despite of the current challenges that we are facing," the El Nido-based airline said.

Last month, President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the suspension of domestic air travel from Luzon since March 17, 2020. This compelled the airlines to ground hundreds of aircraft across all the airports in the country and to enforce stringent cost-saving measures over significant losses.
