PAF deploys SF-260FH aircraft for cargo transport
Aviation Updates Philippines – The Philippine Air Force's Air Education, Training and Doctrine Command deployed two SF-260FH military aircraft in Edwin Andrews Air Base, Zamboanga City to ferry COVID-19 specimens for testing in Davao City.
The SF-260FH aircraft stationed in Zamboanga came from Fernando Air Base in Lipa, Batangas to assist in COVID-19 operations in Mindanao. Two of the same aircraft type are also stationed at Mactan-Benito Ebuen Air Base in Cebu to serve the Visayas islands.
According to PAF, these aircraft transported a total of 92 specimens, composed of 69 specimens from Zamboanga, 12 specimens from Pagadian City, and 11 specimens from Butuan City bound for Davao. Currently, the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) remains the only certified laboratory in Mindanao to carry-out COVID-19 tests.
"The mission accomplishment was made possible thru the collaborative efforts and support of personnel from the Department of Health, TOWEastMin, TOWWestMin, 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division, Philippine Army, Tactical Operations (TOG) 9, TOG 10 and TOG 11," PAF said in a Facebook post.
On the other hand, the two SF-260FH aircraft also transported 11 packages containing newborn babies screening, testing kits, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from Davao to Zamboanga on Monday.
The PAF continuously participates in the battle against COVID-19 by taking part in transporting specimens for testing, and PPEs to Mindanao. It continuously provides immediate air transport missions to help mitigate the spread of the pandemic.
