PAL mounts cargo-only flights to Cebu, Davao

Aviation Updates Philippines – Philippine Airlines announced on Friday that it will mount cargo-only flights from Manila to Cebu and soon, Davao, to aid in the logistics operations amid the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak in the region.
CARGO-ONLY FLIGHTS. Since PAL does not operate freighter-dedicated aircraft, the airline will be using its passenger aircraft to fly cargo to the Visayas and Mindanao.
Although the flag carrier was forced to cancel all of its domestic and several international flights, PAL has pledged to continue operating cargo-only flights to key points in Visayas and Mindanao to transport essential cargo.

PAL will be using passenger aircraft for its flights, however, only the cargo hold below the aircraft cabin will be consumed.

According to PAL, it has already carried 15.297 tons of cargo as it operated daily round-trip flights between Manila and Cebu since yesterday. The carrier said cargo-only flights will be sent to Davao in the coming week.

"In addition, PAL carries out disinfection procedures on cargo upon aircraft arrival., then cargo is loaded off at domestic stations and at the Manila hub," PAL Spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said in a Facebook post.
