In PAL's latest advisory as of today, the flag carrier now allows a one-time free rebooking option for international flights purchased on or before March 31, 2020. However, tickets for South Korea and Japan are not covered as well as for domestic flights within the Philippines.

Passengers may avail of this option up to seven days before the original scheduled departure time. PAL will not charge passengers on the first rebooking attempt but will charge for fare differences for the second rebooking attempt.

Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific offers free rebooking for both international and domestic flights scheduled from March 10 to 31, 2020. However, fare differences may apply.

Cebu Pacific passengers who plan to book new flights until the end of March can avail of CEB Flexi for free. The add-on gives travelers the flexibility to rebook their flights up to two times until two hours before scheduled departure.

Amidst the increasing number of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines, airlines are ramping up their efforts to continuously disinfect and sanitize their aircraft and facilities in the airport to prevent the further spread of disease.

"Cebu Pacific has always been committed to upholding the safety of all our passengers and personnel. Preventive measures are in place to manage the risk of infection from COVID-19. These measures include thorough disinfection of aircraft, on top of the regular cleaning; providing our crew with Personnel Protective Equipment such as face masks, gloves and disinfectants; restriction on transferring of seats during our flights; and use of HEPA air filters, that block 99.99% of contaminants and viruses," it said.

Meanwhile, on PAL's part, they are also intensifying their measures against COVID-19 by disinfecting the aircraft every after a flight with high-grade industrial disinfectants. In the airport, PAL has also placed sanitizers in key locations.
