Philippines AirAsia launches General Santos, Zamboanga flights
Aviation Updates Philippines – This summer, Philippines AirAsia sets off the season with new direct flights to the Southern part of the Philippine archipelago. Starting late-March, the low-cost carrier will fly new routes to General Santos City and Zamboanga.
The General Santos City Tourism Council announced last week that AirAsia will now service the city with scheduled flights to Cebu, Clark, and Manila. Cebu-General Santos flies daily while Clark-General Santos flies thrice-a-week.
Flights to Cebu and Clark are set on March 29 and March 31, respectively, while flights to Manila are still subject to regulatory approval. The same situation goes for flights between Manila and Zamboanga, where no flight schedules and launch date are readily available for booking.
On the other hand, AirAsia will also launch services to Zamboanga with flights from Cebu and Clark, both beginning on March 29. Cebu-Zamboanga flights will fly daily, while Clark-Zamboanga flights will fly every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Additionally, AirAsia plans to ramp up operations for the summer season with increased frequencies for domestic flights to Bohol, Cagayan de Oro, Caticlan, Cebu, Clark, Davao, Iloilo, Kalibo, Puerto Princesa, and Tacloban.
AirAsia's fleet of 180-seat Airbus A320-200, the main workhorse of the airline, will fly all of its routes domestically and internationally. The airline maintains an air-worthy fleet of 24 of the type as of writing.
